The Voice of Australia fans slam the show for ‘whitewashing’ after Lachie Gill win

VOA fans slam the show for ‘whitewashing’ after Lachie Gill win: ‘Three incredible singers of colour and mediocre white people win’

Lachie Gill has been crowned champion of The Voice Australia in 2022, with some fans of the show not happy with the verdict.

The 24-year-old Victorian took on finalists Sando Sikvira, Jordan Tavita and Faith Sossene, and some felt his victory was unnecessary.

Several viewers tweeted that they believed Luckey won only because he was white.

“Definitely no one is surprised that the pretty white boy wins,” one person tweeted, while others added: “Lucy wins? Sounds like white’.

“I really hate to say that, but there are three next-level singers on #TheVoiceAU in the finale. The winner is not one of them. The only white one though. I really can’t think of another explanation,” another bit wrote.

“Obviously what you need to win #TheVoiceAU is to be a mediocre white guy!!” Another agreed, while another said: “No way. That’s rigged. White boys that fit suits.

‘That’s not surprising. Three world-class singers and an AFL player who plays guitar. Another tweet said Australia will vote white.

‘Yes, a white boy with no voice won #TheVoiceAU. Is there anything else that could go wrong? Stop whitewashing everything. Stop making us look bad. We have to demand to see all the ballots,” another chimed in.

“Well…that was a waste of time – three incredible singers of color and mediocre white men won”.
