Depp lawyer accuses Hurd of fake tears during ‘performance of her life’
The jury began to consider six weeks of testimony after ex-husband Johnny Depp’s defamation trial against Amber Heard on Friday (May 27) concluded Was sent home for the Memorial Day holiday weekend.
Jurors will resume their deliberations in the high-profile civil case on Tuesday (May 31).
Heard Depp sued for $50m for suggesting he abused her in 2018 Washington post column. Although she did not name him, he claimed her allegations affected his ability to work. She is seeking a $100 million countersuit.
In Depp’s closing arguments, his lawyers asked jurors to “give him his life” for what he claimed was “ruined” by Heard’s domestic abuse charges. They claimed Heard would rather fight than let the actor go, call her claims an act of extreme cruelty to the real survivors, and say she gave her life in the stands.
Heard’s lawyers said the ruling in Depp’s favor would make jurors “accomplices” in his abuse and “global humiliation campaign”, and ended by accusing the actor of “laughing” and “sarcastic comments,” adding that he Participated in “blaming the victim is the most disgusting”.
