Jada Pinkett Smith is in tears with a grieving mother after her 12-year-old daughter, who suffered from hair loss, committed suicide after being brutally bullied for her hair loss.
The 50-year-old, who has opened up about her struggle with hair loss, invited Niki Ball to share her heartbreaking story on a new episode of her Facebook Watch series Red Table Talk, which airs on Wednesday.
Ball’s daughter Rio, who started losing “minor amounts” of hair early in the pandemic, was later diagnosed with alopecia areata, an autoimmune disease that causes unpredictable patchy hair loss.
‘She was very strong due to the hair loss.She was just shaking it even though it was still falling out and she just had these big bald spots,” explained Ball clip from the plot. ‘Tried the cream. They made her break out. Tried injections. She ate five a day, but none of them really did anything.

In an emotional conversation with Pinkett Smith — joined by her mother Adrian Banfield-Norris and her daughter Willow Smith — Ball recalled how Rio decided to shave bald.
“School was almost here and we bought her that super cute wig and she loved it and she just glowed,” the mum said. “But at school, within a few weeks, she was like, ‘I don’t want to wear it anymore. It doesn’t make sense.'”
‘ She ripped it off her head. Walking down the hallway, her head would be knocked off. That was in the first two weeks, three weeks. It’s really bad for her.
Bauer explained that Rio’s classmates called her “naked mole rat,” “dazzling alien,” and “Mr. and Mrs. Crane.” She noted that Rio “spent at school” in the weeks before her death. A very bad day.”

Ball, who also has a seven-year-old daughter, Avery, recalled walking into their shared bedroom that morning.
“I thought the lights were still on and the way the room was set up was weird. I didn’t see her and I thought, ‘Rio! “I didn’t hear anything, so I yelled again,” she said.

Pinkett Smith cried with Ball, saying Rio was an example of why people “need to understand how devastating this situation is”.
The actress opened up about her own hair loss experience in a 2018 episode of Red Table Talk.
“It was scary at first,” she said. “I was in the shower one day and there was just a handful of hair – right in my hand – and I thought, ‘Oh my God, am I going to be bald?
